BIRACIAL HAIR CARE

hair-types5.jpg

There have been several attempts to define hair “type”. You may ask “Why should I care?” Well, mostly you shouldn’t. We think typing systems actually complicate what can pretty easily be conveyed in a few words. By the time you sort through what a 4b or 1a really means you might as well just say “I have thick kinky African hair” or “I have straight, thin Caucasian hair”. And, hair typing systems are so subjective as to be almost worthless in our opinion. Who determines whether your hair shafts are thick or thin? And whether the curl pattern is “loose” or “tight”.

    Caring for Biracial Hair

  1. Step 1 Wash hair about once a week using a high quality shampoo that will not dry out your hair. Look for products that are hydrating or contain natural oils. Washing hair too often can reduce shine. The natural oils in the scalp will keep the hair supple, and prevent drying out. Rinsing hair without washing between shampoos can freshen hair.
  2. Step 2 Condition hair after washing or rinsing using a moisturizing cream conditioner. Gently massage conditioner, beginning at the tips and working your way towards the scalp. Stop conditioning about a ½-inch from the scalp.
  3. Step 3 Condition hair with a deep conditioner once or twice a month. Follow the directions on the bottle regarding application instructions.
  4. Step 4 Pat hair dry using a clean towel.
  5. Step 5 Comb hair using a wide-toothed comb. Start at the ends and comb working your way towards the scalp.
  6. Step 6 You can see at here
